Geo Genshin Impact: Element Guide, Strengths & Reactions

Genshin Impact is an open-world action role-playing game featuring an element called Geo.

This element is associated with defensive capabilities and terrain shaping, and is capable of triggering the Crystallize effect when combined with non-Anemo and non-Geo elements.

This article explores the characteristics, strengths, and reactions of the Geo element and its associated characters and Elemental Burst effects.

Through this exploration, readers will gain a better understanding of the Geo element and how it can be used in the game.

Geo in Genshin

Geo in Genshin Impact is associated with the element of earth, possessing defensive capabilities and the ability to shape terrain. It is linked to the Archon Morax and is most effectively used against enemies with Geo Elemental Armor.

The Geo status effect cannot be applied through elemental attacks, except for certain enemies with permanent Geo status. When applied to characters, Geo instantly dissipates, except for Zhongli’s Elemental Burst effect which applies a persistent Geo status effect during Petrification. This maintains a Geo gauge of 0.04 units and does not decay over time.

When a character already has a non-Anemo and non-Geo element applied, the Crystallize effect is triggered, generating an elemental shard which acts as a protective barrier and grants resistance against the initial element. The Geo status effect is removed when the petrified state ends, and does not react with other elements.

Geo characters in Genshin Impact include:

  • Albedo
  • Itto
  • Traveler (Geo)
  • Zhongli
  • Noelle
  • Ningguang
  • Gorou
  • Yun Jin.

Elemental Burst Effects

Zhongli’s Elemental Burst, Planet Befall, applies a persistent status effect of the earth element during Petrification. This effect maintains a Geo gauge of 0.04 units which does not decay over time.

Upon ending the petrified state, the Geo status is completely removed and does not react with other elements.

This can be particularly effective against enemies with Geo Elemental Armor, as it can create rock shields for defense.

Additionally, when this effect is combined with Pyro, Cryo, Hydro, or Electro elements, it can trigger the Crystallize reaction, which generates an elemental shard that acts as a protective barrier and grants resistance against the initial element.

Characters and Status

Several characters in Genshin Impact possess the ability to manipulate the element of earth, which can be applied through the Geo status effect. Geo characters include:

  • Albedo
  • Itto
  • Traveler (Geo)
  • Zhongli
  • Noelle
  • Ningguang
  • Gorou
  • Yun Jin

The Geo status effect:

  • Cannot be applied through elemental attacks, except for certain enemies with permanent Geo status
  • Disappears when applied to characters, except for Zhongli’s Elemental Burst effect
  • Triggers the Crystallize effect when a character already has a non-Anemo and non-Geo element applied
  • Maintains a Geo gauge of 0.04 units and does not decay over time
  • Completely removes Geo status when the petrified state ends and does not react with other elements.
